My first to give out at work...

Anyone out there? Anyone reading this? Does anyone care?! haha well here it goes anyway.

So talking religion at work is kind of difficult and awkward. But somehow it still comes up. Last May I went to a few happy hour get togethers with coworkers, and obviously I stood out. Thanks to the Word of Wisdom. This was an easy way to talk with others about the church. A convo started with a girl only a few years older than I, and she was really interested. Of course I never got around to following up in the madness that is the end of the year.

I decided I would give her one now. Not the best timing, since all summer she could have read it, and now she won't have much time. But better than never. I got a card and wrote a little to her about it and wishing her a good school year. I also wrote a portion of my testimony in the book and underlined some verses. I bravely stuck it in a brown paper bag and left it on her desk when I knew she wouldn't be there! Hey small steps people.

Well she wrote me and email the next day and was thankful for the gesture. She said she is wanting to know more and open to learning about all the religions. All in all it went well. Now I just need to keep it up...

The cable guy!

Today I had the great opportunity to home teach Rachel and Candace. We had a great discussion about charity, and extending a form a service to people that we meet or come in contact with. So the Lord presented that opportunity immediately. The cable guy showed up to install Internet for the girls. Candace started things of by telling him that we were part of the church. Rachel then offered the book of Mormon to him and shared her testimony about the book and why she reads it. I concluded with my own testimony of the church and how much it has fulfilled my life and the great blessings I have received from it. We put the elders number in the cover and asked him if he ever wanted to join us. It was a great way to show our love for Christ and each other. I know that Jesus is the Christ and his hand is in our live constantly.

I actually tried...

So I finally got up the courage to offer a Book of Mormon to my neighbor. I had borrowed his screwdrivers and decided that when I returned the tools I could give him the book then.

Well I offered it and he said he already had one! So of course I asked him if he had read it and what he thought and he only had a little bit. We went on to talk a lot about churches and religion. If I could change something I think I would have suggested a chapter that he could read. But at least now the door is open for more conversations in the future!

I think it gets easier each time I try this...
